on inspiration…

today we went to the isaac mizrahi show at bryant park.  i can’t say enough about how much this show moved me.  i hate to really gush about anything but on so many levels this picked me up and dusted off my crappy attitude (at least momentarily).

and it’s like, hey, i’ve been to a fashion show before but nothing like this.  nothing truly inspired that really left me feeling inspired myself.  i watched thakoon last night on Video Fashion and i loved it more than everything else but this was next level.  The collection felt cohesive and whole, really robust.  Can’t say that about a lot of collections.  It told a story and a really optimistic one for the very refined, powerful, elegant, forward-thinking but classic woman.  plus, to see where he’s come from and what he’s done to start over again and rebuild everything from the bottom up is its own thing - but then to see what he created for today. it’s divoooon

i am going to go out on a limb here and say that the evening wear WASN’T my favorite part of the collection but whatever, the whole thing was a huge production that completely came off like a win regardless.  if you’re going to have a live band (playing avant-jazz no less), a rain maker on stage and a full staircase (not to mention no gift bags), you better not disappoint.  and seriously, it didn’t. not one bit.  my favorite part aside from the production-heavy show setup…  the pants, blazers and suits.  just soooo amazing.  everything had this  roaring 20’s-meets-50’s Era American in Paris / George Girshwin / Fred Astaire / Diane Keaton from the 70’s vibe to it.  It just hit all the right spots for me and if I can afford to get my hands on ANY part of it, i most definitely will be doing as much as I can of that in the Spring

When Isaac walked the runway at the end of the show, he did the WHOLE runway, and it’s a good thing because you could tell every single person there wanted to clap for him for that long.  he (and i’m sure his amazing design team) totally deserved it.  This guy is my hero right now.  If i were into that book, The Secret, I’d be creating a mood board with his face in the middle right about now.  But seriously, get you ass to style.com to see the rest of the collection or to a tv to watch it on Video Fashion tomorrow night at 10.

oh and ps, isaac mizrahi PR people - if you have this google alert-ed and it by any chance, comes up.  please pass along my services to Mr. Mizrahi so he can have a kickass social and digital media PR plan moving forward… just saying.
